During Las Fallas, the population of Valencia nearly doubles, and the city becomes very crowded. That is why it’s best to use the public transport, the bicycle or even walk short distances.

EMT Valencia

During the festivities, The Municipal Transport Company of Valencia (EMT) will boost their transportation capacity by extending some of the bus routes, as well as their running frequency, in the most crowded areas.

The EMT buses can be used especially to reach places you can’t reach by metro. (For example, the Malvarrosa neighbourhood, for the Show of lights and music). The EMT buses will run day and night, but you’ll have to be aware that some routes will be diverted, and some of the bus stops will be temporarily closed, due to falleras festivities.

During the Fallera Week, 15th – 19th of March, buses, as well as taxis, won’t be allowed to enter the historical centre.

Between the 1st and 14th of March, the traffic will be impelled from the Tetuan-Porta de la Mar changer to Plaza Sant Agustí (during the mascletá), and the buses won’t run in the inner circle.

Metrovalencia

During the festivities, the metro is the fastest way to travel to the city centre and other popular areas.

On the weekends, Metrovalencia will extend their running schedule by 3 hours over their regular schedule.

During the Las Fallas Week (15th – 19th of March), Metrovalencia will run non-stop.

Tranvia (Tram)

For the official opening of Las Fallas (La Crida), on the 1st of March, the tram lines will also be supplemented.

Recommended stops for reaching areas that are hosting the festivities:

For Plaza del Ayuntamiento (Mascletá and Crema): Xàtiva (metro lines 3, 5, 9), Colón (metro lines 3, 5, 7, 9) or Bailén (metro line 7).

For Alameda (Fireworks and Castillos de fuegos): Alameda (metro lines 3, 5, 7, 9).

Warning: If you arrive very close to the starting time, the stop will be closed, and you’ll have to get off at Aragon or Colón stop.

For Plaza de la Virgen (Ofrenda a la Virgen): Colón (metro lines 3, 5, 7, 9) or Pont de Fusta (tram line 4).

For Benicalap (Mega Mascletà, March 19th): Garbí (tram line 4) or Beniferri (metro lines 1 and 2).

Available passes for public transport

Regardless of which form of transportation you travel with, it’s much more cost effective to use a pass, rather than buying individual tickets.

Only for busses

• Bonobús:
• Ride cost per person: 8.50 euros.
• It includes 10 rides available only on EMT buses.
• It allows you to change buses for free and for an unlimited number of times, for 1 hour from the first validation

Only for metro

 

Buses, metro and metropolitan lines

 Bono T1, T2 or T3

The passes can be purchased or topped up from tobacco shops (estancos), kiosks, authorised stores, ticket machines from the metro stops.

Bonofallas Pass

For the Fallera Week (15th – 19th of March), there’s a pass created specifically for this occasion, called Bonofallas. The pass has unlimited rides, a 7-day validity, and costs 7 euros. More information here.

Mobilis Card

The Mobilis card is a plastic card, with no rides on it, and it costs 2 euros. The card can be topped up multiple times with up to 30 metro rides or bus rides. The card can be used for metro, as well as buses and can be purchased from tobacco shops (estancos), kiosks, and authorised stores.

Valencia Tourist Card

If you intend to visit monuments and tourist attractions, then you may find the Valencia Tourist Card useful. It cludes unlimited rides on public transport (buses, metro, tranvia), one ride with the metro towards the airport, discounts for museums and various shops. The card has a temporary validity, as following: 24 hours – 15 euros, 48 hours – 20 euros, 72 hours – 25 euros.

It can be purchased from the Tourist Information Offices at the airport and in the city, online from here, but also from all authorised shops.

Valenbisi

Valenbisi is the bicycle rental public service offered by the municipality, that’s why i included it in cathegory of public transport.

The Valenbisi rental service is available at over 200 stations in Valencia, 24/7, all year round.

The bicycles can be lifted and parked only in the Valenbisi stations.

Valenbisi for tourists

Tourists can purchase a pass valid for 7 consecutive days, with 13.30 euros, right from the bicycle stations. Practical informations about subscription, you can find here. The annual pass costs 29.21 euros and can be purchased online only, at http://www.valenbisi.es.

The bicycle can be used free of charge for 30 minutes. After 30 minutes, the cost will increase depending on the riding time.

Additional costs:

• 04 euros for exceeding 30 minutes, up to 1 hour;
• 12 euros for every extra hour.

Temporary closed Valenbisi stations 

The costs have last been updated in February 2020.
